Pupils have planted our very first self-pollinating apple tree in Silvermines NS and fittingly it was the pupils from first class who planted the tree 🌳 🍎. Well done everybody and we will all be looking forward to a great crop of eating apples.
Fantastic gardening in the school garden this week….planting summer bedding in flower pots and earthing up potatoes, sowing strawberry plants. We also sowed cosmos, sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Well done everyone 👏 💐 🌹 🌸 🏵 🌼 💐
We had a fantastic STEM week in Silvermines NS this week with all classes from Junior Infants right through to sixth class partaking in a range of activities. We explored robotics, hydraulics, acoustics, magnetism and electrics in what proved a hugely interesting week.
Silvermines NS students Jack Kirk (6th class) and Annie Powell (Junior Infants) officially launched our new school website this week. Devised in conjunction with Lettertec Ireland our new website provides a more robust communication tool with parents and the general public and is a fantastic way of showcasing all that Silvermines NS has to offer….
Silvermines NS at the Microsoft Dreamspace Microbit Computer Coding Exhibition in Dublin on a beautiful Tuesday in May. Everyone had a fantastic day out and a big thank you to Pam O’Brien from TUS Limerick for all her assistance in preparing our senior class for the exhibition.
